Literature Text

This is my effort for the twelth Flash Fiction Month (FFM) prompt.

I wrote this for FFM, but it is also a scene from something I am working on that I hope eventually becomes a novel. Parts of this are based on a true story; I’ll leave that for the reader to wonder about, or not. Any resemblance to anyone living or dead, rendered to crackling or not, is entirely coincidental and that includes anyone, including you, and you know who you are and what I’m talking about and how are you doing, anyway, it’s been so long?

The specifications of the Veeders mailbox are accurate.

    Read all about FFM here.

This is also my entry for Stage 1 of the Realism Fiction Project/Contest sponsored by #Love-Literature.

Update: I just found out that I won Stage 1 of the contest. Very pleasantly surprised! For full information, please see here.

And…I’m feeling generous. I will give 100 points to anyone who solves the math challenge I’ve hidden in the story’s Easter Eggs. You will need to be pretty good at AP level math in order to solve this…but it is an interesting one, with actual bearing on this story.

The preview image is “Photo of ice-covered mailbox in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, USA. February 14, 2007,” by Joy Schoenberger, who has kindly released it under the GNU Free Documentation License.

First I'm going to say this is very beautifully written and congratulations on your 1st place in #Love-Literature Realism Fiction Contest.

I very much enjoyed this from beginning to end, I was drawn in straight away. Grammar and spelling are perfect, the image used fits exactly with the story I keep wanting to read more and more. It's not easy to write a story and make it so interesting for the readers it clear and straight to the point, it doesn't drone on with details that are not necessary. the choice of words used made me practically feel what was happening never mind see it.

I very much enjoyed your work, you are a talented writer. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/c/c…" width="20" height="20" alt="" title="Clap"/>
